I update my catalogue every year in time for Oxford Artweeks. In it you will find all (or almost all) of my paintings that are currently available.

This is my 14th Artweeks and this year in Adderbury again. I am looking forward to renewing acquaintances with visitors who have come to our shows there over the last two years but will miss the familiar faces of my regulars in Oxford. I plan to be back there, as well as in Adderbury, for my 15th Artweeks!
I'm exhibiting with my good friends and long-term fellow exhibitors: Philip Dove (stained glass) and Alison and Morris (jewellery). Their elegant Georgian house is a wonderful exhibition space and so I do hope you'll be able to come to see us.
The dates are 4-12 May, 11.00 -.6.00. Groom's Lodge, Oxford Road, Adderbury, OX17 3NF.There is plenty of parking on The Green, just around the corner (map next to Artweeks logo above).

For those of you who can't make it, I would gladly arrange a private view of half a dozen or so pictures from my catalogue. Private view sounds a bit grand - I mean that I ‘d prop them up around the lounge for you to see!

ABOUT
My work is usually figurative but driven by an obsession with colour and an exploration of the tension between the painted surface and the illusion of pictorial space. As a process, it’s all about balance: not too many ingredients and knowing just when to stop, rather like cooking, that most wonderful of all human interventions. The Oxford Times has described my work as ”glowing and exuberant” and that is something I try to live up to!
My art heroes include Paul Gauguin (an awful human being), Piero della Francesca, Barbara Rae and above all, Paul Klee. For Klee it was a visit to Tunisia that did it. “I have found colour,” he said, ”it has hold of me”. For me it was India and in particular Rajasthan.
My work is in collections in UK, USA, France, Italy, and Australia. I show work in a number of galleries in Oxfordshire and exhibit regularly in Artweeks. I was the Chair of the Turrill Sculpture Garden and for some years on the Committee of the Oxford Art Society.

THE JAR
A wonderful poem by Wallace Stevens
and very close to my heart, as the inspiration
behind my first proper exhibition.
Anecdote of the Jar
I placed a jar in Tennessee,
And round it was, upon a hill.
It made the slovenly wilderness
Surround that hill.
The wilderness rose up to it,
And sprawled around, no longer wild.
The jar was round upon the ground
And tall and of a port in air.
It took dominion everywhere.
The jar was gray and bare.
It did not give of bird or bush,
Like nothing else in Tennessee.
